...featuring exceptional music from around the world.

The Playlist is my shareable music catalog. I might share it in a live radio format, or a fixed number of songs mixed with accompanying video on YouTube. The Playlist is the musical content. Featured artists, new artists, one-hit-wonder artists. I might even stream it live from time to time.

It began long years ago as Radio Dave. During that time when I really wanted to do it, I didn't really have the optimum time to devote to it. Then, it morphed into something called Eclectic As Heck, starting as a podcast, and beginning as a 20-track mix, only to downsize to mix-minis - packing 5 or fewer tracks together. Bitesized (short attention span) listening! More recently, I've even showcased just one track with video.

I follow no genre path with The Playlist; my main focus is featuring exceptional music from around the world. For a minute or two, I called them MO-Mixtapes, borrowing the concept of "infinite mixtapes" from streaming giant NSR and swapping Music Only (MO) for "Infinite.

For me, music is only as good as the effort I put into finding the exceptional track.

I've been around for over 70 years, so my process has become familiarly endemic from my side of the lens. But, alas, this means I have to listen to a LOT of crap in that hunt. Sometimes, I scream out loud when 99.9% of everything that is "newly released" is clearly garbage. Combining laziness contributes significantly to the unappealing lists of "obscure" music in numerous Substack posts.

Just because the music is not on a chart or on some crappy album that was ignored or shadowbanned by listeners doesn't make it fodder for a list.

It's gotta be good stuff, right? 🤙🏻
